HONOR YOU MOTHER THIS MONTH: GIVE HER THE GIFT OF GOOD HEALTH

HONOR YOU MOTHER THIS MONTH: GIVE HER THE GIFT OF GOOD HEALTH
May 6, 2025Blog

Did you know that cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death in women? This disease affects nearly half of the women over the age of 20 and only increases with age.

In fact, at the time of menopause, women’s risk for cardiovascular disease increases precipitously much higher than that of age-matched men.

The same risk factors contribute to cardiovascular disease as in men such as high blood pressure, smoking, diabetes, sedentary lifestyle and poor diet. However, women experience other conditions that may increase their risks, including complications during pregnancy, use of birth control early in life and early menopause.

Women also can have different signs and symptoms of a heart attack than men. Chest pain is a common symptom for both men and women, but women may experience the pain as pressure, squeezing, or fullness, rather than sharp pain often described by men. Pain the arms, neck, back and jaw, nausea, lightheadedness or indigestion can occur. Cold sweats and chronic fatigue are also signs of heart attack or heart disease in women.

Women also suffer more from a condition called Ischemic, non-obstructive coronary artery disease (INOCA). This is a small vessel disease that may mimic the signs and symptoms of a heart attack but upon angiogram, the large coronary arteries are clean and clear but the small vessels coming off the great arteries are chronically constricted limiting blood flow and perfusion to the working heart muscle. Most cardiologist may fail to recognize this and can be life threatening.

Loss of nitric oxide is what leads to cardiovascular disease. All of the risk factors and symptoms of cardiovascular disease are due to a loss of nitric oxide production. Estrogen is a very strong activator and stimulus for nitric oxide production. Estrogen increases the expression of the nitric oxide synthase enzyme so women with optimized hormones have more of the enzyme that produces nitric oxide in the lining of the blood vessels. Estrogen also stimulates the release of nitric oxide.

Obviously, anything that disrupts estrogen production can lead to a loss of nitric oxide production in women, leading to increased risk of cardiovascular disease. Use of birth control pills completely disrupts normal hormone cycles and causes many problems including risks of blood clots and an increase in blood pressure. These effects can last long after cessation of birth control.

Birth control, especially in teens and young women cause many problems and really should be avoided. At menopause when women lose natural estrogen production, they have less nitric oxide synthase enzyme present in the lining of the blood vessels and what enzyme is there is typically not functional.

This explains the increased risk of heart attack and stroke in post-menopausal women. Loss of nitric oxide production secondary to a loss of protective estrogen is a major problem in women.

Hormone replacement therapy (HRT) is critically important in post-menopausal women in order to mitigate the increased risks of cardiovascular disease.

However, you must find a knowledgeable physician or practitioner who know what estrogens to administer, at the proper dose and the right delivery system for you personally. The goal is to recapitulate physiology and natural estrus cycle even after menopause.

We must also focus on restoring the function of the nitric oxide synthase enzyme in the lining of the blood vessels and the enzyme in our neurons. If we restore estrogen hormone levels but do not restore the function of the NOS enzyme, then we fail to gain the cardioprotective benefits of estrogen therapy. If you are post-menopausal and are not on HRT, then your body is not producing any nitric oxide and you are at a huge risk.

That is where my nitriceutical product technology is so helpful. If your body cannot produce nitric oxide, my lozenges and products provide it for you. The lozenges also help restore the function of the nitric oxide synthase enzyme in the lining of the blood vessels so you can naturally start producing nitric oxide.

It is also important to consider what you may be doing that is shutting down natural nitric oxide production. These include fluoride-based toothpastes, antiseptic mouthwash, use of antacids and a high carbohydrate, high sugar diet.

I just launched our nitric oxide friendly, fluoride free toothpaste a couple of weeks ago. I highly recommend you replace your current toothpaste with my Cardiosmile toothpaste. Eliminate the use of antiseptic mouthwash, wean off antacids and change your diet to reduce or eliminate sugars and simple carbohydrates.

Once you eliminate the practices that are inhibiting nitric oxide production, your body can now respond appropriately to exercise, good diet, hormone replacement and deep breathing as a way to improve nitric oxide production. Get your hormones optimized and live a healthy life free of disease.
