Breast Cancer Awareness Month. How Does Nitric Oxide Affect Cancer Risk And Cancer Progression?
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Cancer remains one of the top killers of Americans despite billions of dollars in research devoted to cancer treatment and prevention. I’ve witnessed first-hand the barbaric treatment of cancer patients with chemotherapy and radiation and how it destroys all cells in the body. Current cancer treatments have not cured anyone of cancer. The best-case scenario is to put it in remission but it is never cured. Approximately 39% of men and women will be diagnosed with cancer at some point in their lives. In 2012, there were 14.1 million new cases of cancer diagnosis worldwide and 8.2 million cancer-related deaths. This number is expected to reach 23.6 million new cases every year by 2030.
The number of Cancer deaths continue to increase. This tells me two things:
- We live in a toxic world and our bodies are exposed to an ever-changing burden of toxins that cause cancer;
- The current system and standard of care for treating cancer is not working. Therefore we must do something different.
Whether its breast cancer or any other form of cancer, it is caused by two things:
- The body is missing something that it needs
- The body is exposed to something that is toxic
Most of the time it is a combination of both. If you remove the source of exposure of the toxins and replete the body with what is missing, the body heals itself and creates an environment that is not conducive to cancer cell growth. The reason oncologists and the current cancer treatment strategy is not working is because the cancer doctors never ask or answer the fundamental question of why did you get cancer. How can you fix something that you don’t recognize the cause. Cancer is a metabolic disease, meaning that there are changes in cellular metabolism that allow the growth of cancerous cells. This metabolism is completely different than normal cellular metabolism. Cancer likes a very specific environment. Exposure to toxins and missing nutrients creates such an environment within the cell that allows for cancer cells to grow and flourish. All cancers have a common likeness. They like, low pH (acidity) and low oxygen (hypoxic) conditions and they can only utilize sugar (glucose) as an energy source to stay alive.
Also, cancer cells have a completely different voltage across the cell membrane that is due to inefficient mitochondria. Mitochondria are the energy and voltage regulators of the cells. You cannot fix or address cancer without first fixing and repairing the mitochondria. Most cancer causing toxins shut down the mitochondria so it makes sense why cancer becomes a metabolic disease. These are indisputable facts in cancer biology but the current treatment of chemotherapy and radiation actually further harm the mitochondria and make them more dysfunctional. This makes no sense. That is why with standard treatment, the cancer may go into remission for a while but it always comes back and when it comes back it is almost always stage 4 metastatic disease with even poorer prognosis than the original cancer. If cancer is caused by damaged mitochondria, why then would you employ treatment that further damages mitochondria and the cell? It makes no sense whatsoever biologically or physiologically.
So how does nitric oxide play in cancer?
Nitric oxide is what controls oxygen and nutrient delivery to individual cells throughout the body. If we replete nutrients but do not have sufficient blood supply to individual cells due to insufficient nitric oxide production, then the nutrients do not get delivered. Nitric oxide and sufficient blood flow also allow the body to get rid of toxins. Part of the job of the circulatory system is to deliver good stuff and take out the bad stuff. Nitric oxide also is what regulates mitochondrial function. Nitric oxide is a critical regulator of energy production within the mitochondria. Without nitric oxide, the mitochondria cannot efficiently generate energy and voltage within the cell. Furthermore, nitric oxide controls the number of mitochondria within a cell. The more mitochondria within a cell, the more efficient energy production. Without adequate nitric oxide, we have less mitochondria generating less energy and voltage and we have a build-up of toxins within the cell that cause a disruption in metabolism; low pH, low oxygen, low voltage, hallmarks of cancer.
If the current system of treating cancer is not working and clearly is causing more damage to the cell (and the patient), then what do we need to do? From a cellular biology perspective, it is actually quite simple.
The first thing we have to do is recognize what caused the cancer. Cancer causing toxins come from several sources:
- Infections from root canals, oral infections. Bacteria generate toxins as a biproduct of their metabolism that shut down specific organs and create an environment that allows cancer cells to flourish
- Exposure to environmental toxins. There are thousands of chemicals we are exposed to each day. Probably the most prominent is fluoride in our municipal drinking water. Fluoride is a known carcinogen. Many herbicides and pesticides in our food supply are known carcinogens. Exposure to heavy metals such as mercury, lead, cadmium, etc can cause cancer. Depending on your occupation, you can be exposed to different carcinogens.
If you have cancer you have to ask yourself what is the source of the toxins that caused my cancer or what is my body missing that caused my cancer and then take steps to correct that. My first recommendation is to go visit a biological dentist that understands the dangers of root canals and oral infections and has the technology to treat the infections. There are blood tests and urine tests that can detect the presence of many carcinogenic chemicals your body may be exposed. Once it is determined the source of toxic exposure then you have to detoxify the chemicals and get them out of your body. The best way to do this is through an infrared sauna. Taking high dose niacin (750mg) prior to sauna will help liberate the fat soluble toxins from the cells and then you excrete them through sweating. There are also known chelators that you can take to bind toxins and metals and help excrete them from the body. You must also address any nutrient deficiencies. This is accomplished through use of good supplementation or eating a good clean diet that will help alkalinize the body. Finally you must maintain good voltage throughout the body. Having good thyroid function is critical for this. Also the Earth is a big magnet providing voltage to the body. Walking barefoot on grass or soil provides the body with electrons it needs to function.
If you have cancer or want to prevent getting cancer, drink and bathe in good clean water, eat a healthy diet and/or supplement what the body needs, avoid sugar and carbohydrates, get plenty of exercise and detoxify your body daily. If you give the body what it needs and remove from the body what it doesn’t need, the body heals itself. Prevention is much simpler than treatment. Above all stay away from chemo and radiation. They have never cured anyone of cancer but only made people sicker.
